Legal Projects are More Difficult?

Stijn Van Looy suggests that legal or compliance projects are more difficult to stear than sales projects. However legal (or compliance) projects mostly have enough budget, these projects do - in his experience - have no greater chance of success. The budget of these projects is no issue because the board does not want to take any risk in not achieving result. Nevertheless these projects have often a lot of difficulties. For instance the sponsorship is not always good taken up. While there is no real business interest in the project, because of the legal goal of the project, the real business experts that are skilled to find a solution, are not (or not enough) involved in the project. The legal or compliance sponsors of the project are not always skilled enough to stear the project team in a  good way. As The Standish Group made clear, a good and highly skilled sponsor is a key success factor to make the project a success.
